Contemporary Jewish Museum & Chrissie Hynde: California

December 2, 2014
From our campground in Pescadero, we drove to the south side of San Francisco.   There was no traffic congestion until we reached the city. (From Petaluma, we rolled bumper to bumper for 1/2 an hour).

J. Otto Seibold and Mr. Lunch exhibit:

The following words are from J. Otto Seibold.

I learned many details about Seibold, his creative process particularly interested me.  This was the first time I met a writer in a museum and interacted with his work as I would with a visual artist.

On the second floor, we  viewed Arnold Newman's photographs.

We explored the Fairmont San Francisco before  tonight's concert with Chrissie Hynde.

These photos are from Chrissie's encores when she permitted photos:

My first concert experience with Chrissie Hynde was at the Filmore in 2009 when she played with her Pretenders' bandmates during her Break Up The Concrete tour. It was standing room only and I was close to the stage. It was a wonderful live encounter with one of my favourite female singers.     A month ago, I checked her tour dates and noticed that we'd be in the same area.  She's released a new album, Stockholm, and tonight she performed with her Pretender guitarist, James Walbourne and Pretender bassist, Nick Wilkinson, and two mates who joined her for this tour: keyboardist Sean Read and drummer Kris Sonne.  At times,  Chrissie stood away from center stage and joined her bassist Wilkinson so Walbourne could show his guitar talent.  Wilkinson was wearing a face on his shirt--either James Dean with a Mohawk or Sid Vicious. For those of you who know Chrissie... you'll get the reference. Chrissie joked about all the young men in her band.   She commented she has never had any women in her band because no one qualified has applied. I look forward to more albums from Chrissie, and more women rocking out with guys and gals on stage.

    1. ;-d In the 1970's, Chrissie, from Ohio, almost married Sid Vicious so she could keep her green card and stay in England. Apparently the marriage didn't happen b-c the city hall was closed and/or Sid Vicious was in court on a criminal charge.
