Guy Drew Vineyards: Cortez, Colorado

Guy Drew offers wine tastings in the early evening at an art gallery that is walking distance from our campsite. After we settled into our campsite Monday evening (August 18), we strolled over and were wowed by both his red and white wines.
All his grapes and most of his fruit are from Colorado.
We brought home a Viognier and a Syrah.

Our conversation with Guy was a wonderful introduction to Colorado wine and culture.

Thursday afternoon, we drove to Guy Drew Vineyards, owned by Guy & Ruth Drew.
Here's their website to find out more about this fascinating couple and their winery and to see much better photos of their vineyards and their pueblo style home http://www.guydrewvineyards.com

                                                   View approaching the Drew's home

                                                           View of vineyard on mesa

                                                                 No grapes for birdies!

  1. Wine tasting within walking distance - certainly a treat I'm sure. Who knew? Grape region in Colorado.

    1. Yes, exactly Jess--a very convenient treat! Growing grapes in CO is a completely different enterprise than growing grapes in NS. CO, it's on the mesa as it is not too hot or too cold. NS, it is in the valley where it's not too hot or too cold.
