Today, we explored the town of Alamosa, lunched at a local brew pub, browsed some shops, stopped in at the visitor's center and shopped for groceries.A department store with a business on the main street of a small town. |
Valle Caliente, a green-chili infused lager.
Grocery shopping is always an adventure! Never the same store and occasionally not the labelling and package you remember from the previous one! Some of the choices are standard fare (with a different package), but there is often food choices that reflect the area's culture and food tastes.
Some surprises...
in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania: no 1L flavored yoghurt (just plain or vanilla in 1L)
in Shepherdsville, Kentucky: steaks from Mexico, beer is cheaper in the grocery store not at the "Cheap Liquor"outlet
in Blue Springs and Oak Grove Missouri: there are aisles dedicated to barbecue sauce, and not just grocery stores, I spotted BBQ sauce at the home hardware store (makes sense really!)
in Alamosa, Colorado: grocery store beer has the same percentage of alcohol 3.2% no matter the brand, and... the best choice in hummus (so far).
Here in Alamosa, I found Green Chile Hummus. Those who know me, know my passion for hummus. My taste buds are HUMming "Me encanta hummus".
