Queen of the West: Vancouver, British Columbia

Thursday, October 16, 2014

We walked across Lion's Gate Bridge then through Stanley Park to downtown Vancouver. We can see Lion's Gate Bridge from our campsite.

Downtown Sculpture: The bracelet and flowers are later additions, presumably not from the artist. The bracelet is sewn closed on her wrist. The flowers in her purse changed the artist's original intent from "searching to smelling". On our return trip, only one flower remained in her purse.

Jonathan ordered a salmon burger from a food cart "Fresh, Local Wild" on Granville St. This is one of J's favourite destinations when he visits Vancouver.
I ordered a Veg Sabji at Soho Road Naan Kebab. Delicious!       http://vegcoast.com/2013/07/24/soho-road-naan-kebab-vegan-vancouver/

At Stepho's Souvlaki Greek Taverna: Jonathan ordered Avgolemono: an egg and lemon soup with chicken. I ordered Melitzanosalata, an eggplant dip served with pita bread and a green chili pepper. Pete ordered Lamb Souvlaki.
Vancouver Aquatic Centre: We watched crows graze the moss.
Along the Stanley Park Seawall. Views of Kitsilano and  Granville Market
Canadian Geese were plentiful in this area.
Lion's Gate Bridge at night: It was a narrow walkway for cyclists and pedestrians and we traveled in the same direction. Most cyclists warned us of their approach with bells and words, but sometimes vehicle traffic would drown them out.   Jonathan & I were on constant bike alert.
