Carlsbad Caverns National Park

Here, Jonathan and I began our descent into Carlsbad Cave. We were underground for three hours. Jonathan was calm throughout the adventure. By the last half hour, I was anxious to return to the sunlight!

The descent to the main level of the cave took us an hour and a half.  One path led us to an area with restrooms, restaurant, gift store, and seating areas.  We ate our packed lunch at a nearby table.

                                        We rode the elevator to return above ground.

    Very cool! Looks like a great attraction given the foot paths...accessible even?!

      The loop trail around the Big Room is generally even, and some sections are wheel-chair accessible.

    You will have seen so many different caves on this trip... They dispel the impression that some may have that they are all dark and damp and cramped.
