Avila/Pismo Beach KOA

Sunday, December 7, 2014

View from our "living room" window

                                             View from our "bedroom" window

                                                    View from our "kitchen" window

View to the right of our backyard

                                                           Poolside in December

Our Avila/Pismo Beach Koa is next to a highway. Now, we hear the constant whir of traffic instead of waves from the beach. The birds still chirp in the morning and we are two campsites away from a pool and a hot tub that we have had to ourselves ;-D

California Brunch: I packaged 1/2 of it for my breakfast the next day!
I think I was sitting next to a willow tree. It was shedding its' fruit everywhere!

Next to the restaurant is a trail that leads to Avila Beach. There are interpretative signs about the flora and fauna along the trail.

By one side of the heron's lake is a highway. Over the lake is a bridge. Today, the bridge was full of people on foot, on bikes and on golf carts. Where I sat watching this heron, there were golfers behind me hitting balls over the lake to the golf course. Amidst all this noisy activity, this heron seemed to be in his own private world. His impact on earth was so minimal compared to all the human activity around him ;-D

                                                         Avila Beach Pier

"Keep It On The Wood and You're Good"
According to the friendly proprietor, Avila Beach pier is the only pier in California that allows open liquor. On our return, we watched an otter swimming on its' back. It was rubbing its' paws together.

                                                                   Poolside at night

  2. How romantic having this place to yourselves ! " Avila" is the name of a ski hill in the Laurentians.. wonder if the word means something?

    1. ;-D Quoting helpful Wikipedia: "The name Avila commemorates Miguel Ávila, who was granted Rancho San Miguelito in 1842. The town was established in the latter half of the 19th century, when it served as the main shipping port for San Luis Obispo. Around this time, Luigi Marre built a honeymoon hotel here and steamboats brought customers from San Francisco and Los Angeles." So J&I are bringing the romance into the 21 century ;-d
